— Our promise
Here is exactly what you get. And why we built it this way.
01
A real story behind every dish
Each recipe has a process of thought: a memory, a cultural root, a creative twist or a happy accident. We share it because context makes food more interesting — and because you deserve to know where an idea came from before you try to cook it yourself.
02
An ingredient you will actually learn something about
Every collection centres on a star ingredient. We introduce it with its Latin name, origins, fast-scan facts — flavour profile, cooking forms, traditional cuisines, natural pairings — and a deeper look at the compounds that give it its character, its benefits and its known contraindications. Sources included.
03
Alternatives so you cook with what you have
Every ingredient with a meaningful swap gets one. We think about allergen-free options, seasonal replacements, budget alternatives and what works if you simply don't have something in the house. Our goal: you should never need to buy more than half the ingredients on a new recipe to try it for the first time.
04
Clear allergen information
Every recipe carries a dedicated allergen section aligned to the EU/UK 14 major allergens. Where an allergen-free swap exists and is listed in the recipe, we flag it directly. Where there is a cross-reactivity risk or a "check the label" situation, we name it.
05
Time framed as an experience, not a countdown
We tell you how long a recipe takes. We also invite you to take more. Our time notes are written as felt experiences — what is happening in the kitchen, what you can do while something simmers, what it smells like. Cooking is a mindfulness practice. We treat it like one.
06
An honest footprint calculation
Every recipe carries an environmental footprint rating (Very Low → Very High), calculated using the Harvard Foodprint Calculator. We also include a short swap table showing which ingredient choices raise or lower that rating — because awareness without alternatives is not particularly useful.
07
Quantities in every format
Metric, imperial and real-life references — because some people measure in grams, some in cups and some in "about the size of a walnut." Everyone should feel confident starting a new recipe.
08
Fresh vs Pantry — Ingredients are always split into two categories
Fresh keeps you seasonal and attentive. Pantry reminds you that a well-stocked cupboard is already doing most of the work — financially and environmentally.
09
Cross-linked recipes so nothing goes to waste
Every star ingredient connects multiple recipes across the collection. One pineapple covers a Caribbean rice, a Thai royal canapé and a morning juice. We show you the connections so you can plan, waste less and discover more.
10
The art, the photography, the reality
We share the stories, the sketches, the paintings. We photograph our dishes exactly as they came out — in our kitchen, in natural light, without a food stylist. Nothing more, nothing less.
